2014 SMITH WOOTON CABERNET FRANC is bold and tannic with clear varietal character. 36 months in French oak barrels enhances the tannin structure and adds to the wine's aging potential.
The wine opens with aromas of mint and sweet roasted peppers with just a touch of spice. There is a memory of dried roses and dark cherries with tingles of spices as the wine coats the palate. The wine demonstrates classic leather notes on the finish. This is a classic Smith Wooton wine that coats the palate and leaves you craving another sip. The wine has the balance to age gracefully for a decade. Decanting prior to drinking is recommended.

Vineyard Notes
Flinn Vineyard consists of just one acre of grapes, located on Napa Valley's Silverado Trail within the Oak Knoll District. The vineyard is being managed by our Winemaker, Daniel Benton, who has become intimately familiar with each vine.
Production Notes
The grapes were crushed and bin fermented which accentuated the fruit flavors and added complexity. To avoid extraction of harsh tannins, no pumps were used until after the wine was pressed off the skins.
Pairings
Serve with hearty fare including roast pork, beef and duck.
Pairs well with Camembert, Smoked Cheddar, Chevre, Beaufort and Havarti cheeses, rustic breads, herbed flatbreads, fresh Blackberries and dark, dried Cherries. Assorted slivers of dark Chocolate, of course! .
